Life Navigators is Celebrating 75 Years as Your Disability Partner

Founded in 1949, we are continuing the mission and vision our founding families developed for community-based services 75 years later.

Our founding families believed in an inclusive community that supports safe, happy and healthy lives for all individuals with disabilities. These families developed the groundwork for community-based services. We carry out this vision through our expanding programs:

Our History

1949

Concerned families founded the organization to support individuals with disabilities.

1950’s

Launched first in-home training program for families and first day school for kids with disabilities.

 

1960’s

Started Milwaukee’s first Info and Referral Program focused on Disability Services and first Parent Support Program.

1970’s

Became the first Corporate Guardianship provider licensed by the State of WI to provide this service to indviduals in Milwaukee County.

1980’s

Developed the Family Support Program and initiated Milwaukee’s first Special Needs Trust Program.

1990’s

Developed an Information and Referral Database and produced a Resource Guide for Disability Services.

2000’s

Expanded case maangement and care management services to provide in-home long-term care services.

2010’s

Rebranded name to Life Navigators, expanded Special Needs Trust Program and built a major office addition to serve more individuals. 

2020’s

Life Navigators began delivering the Children’s Long-Term Support Waiver Program (CLTS) in partnership with Milwaukee County DHHS.
