Meet Samantha. Samantha was a healthy individual growing up. A few years back, Samantha fell ill, which resulted in her becoming a quadruple amputee. Determined to continue living life to the fullest, Samantha sought help from Life Navigators.
A member for the past two years, Life Navigators has supported Samantha through our Trust Program and Self-Advocacy & Independence Program. Through her funded Trust, Life Navigators was able to purchase a new, fully adaptive car for Samantha, perfect for her specifications. With her car, Samantha regained some independence that had been previously lost.
Samantha is now thriving with her perfect car. She is able to drive to work every day, fully charged for the day ahead as a first-grade teacher. She can run errands, such as grocery shopping and doctor’s appointments, with ease. She can now attend our office for Self-Advocacy nights, including art nights and game nights. But most of all, she has the autonomy to go where she wants, when she wants.
Watch Samantha’s story as she describes in greater detail how having a car that perfectly suits her needs has helped her regain the independence she was looking for.
