A Place to Be Yourself – Meet Marshell

Meet Marshell. Marshell is a social butterfly who enjoys being an active member of her community. She works and participates in many Special Olympics sports. Before joining Life Navigators’ Women’s Group, Marshell loved being active but often found gaps in her schedule, looking for more opportunities to connect with friends.

Since becoming a member, she has not just found activities; she has created meaningful friendships while developing her skills and abilities. Since joining our Women’s Group, Marshell has had unique experiences learning to knit, painting pottery, visiting the horses at the Milwaukee Urban Stables and creating art for her home.

“I enjoy Women’s Group because it is fun and allows me to be myself”

Marshell also started coming to our other monthly events, where bingo and game nights are her favorites. She has become a caring friend, often helping staff members pass out snacks and clean up messes. Marshell has even invited some of her coworkers and Special Olympic teammates to start attending, so they could develop meaningful connections. This network of support means so much to her and the individuals with disabilities we serve.

Because of your generosity, Marshell found a place where she can build lasting friendships. With your continued support, more individuals like Marshell will have the support network to successfully live, work and volunteer in our community.
