Remembering the Lasting Impact of Our Beloved Dave & Carol
The passing of our longtime supporters Dave & Carol Anderson is such a loss of two close friends to our organization. Connected to Life Navigators for over 35 years, Dave & Carol created memorable relationships with many of our donors and consumers. Dave served on our board, and together they co-chaired our Challenger Event for ten years. We are so touched that one of their greatest honors was being chosen as our 2016 Challenger Honorees.
Dave & Carol were always thinking of ways to help Life Navigators and the disability community. In 2016, we underwent a building expansion to meet the growing need for disability services. Dave & Carol knew they wanted to help. They had already included Life Navigators in their Planned Giving, and they decided to designate their gift early to make an immediate impact. Their generosity helped us eliminate our building debt and secure bright futures for kids and adults with disabilities.
Their son Dan, is a member of our Self-Advocacy & Independence Program. Dan was our Consumer of the Year when Dave & Carol were honored at our 2016 Challenger Event. Dan’s involvement in our Men’s Group has expanded his independent living skills and strengthened his leadership abilities in our community. Thanks to Dave & Carol’s careful planning, they had peace of mind that Dan would continue to live independently in the community now and in the future.
After Dave’s passing in January, donations poured in to honor his memory, just as they had for Carol in 2021. They would be so pleased to see the generosity of those that gave to Life Navigators in each of their memories. These gifts are a true celebration of their commitment to individuals with disabilities. Thanks to these memorial gifts, we plan to have a Men’s Group outing in remembrance of Dave & Carol. Their legacy will create a lasting impact for years to come.
