A Lasting Family Connection
Fred and his brother Jim were beloved by Life Navigators for many years. Jim was originally involved in Life Navigators’ Care Management Unit. Their family faced significant barriers to accessing disability services, and they were so grateful when they were finally connected with Life Navigators to assist. Our team helped Jim find an adult day program where he could make friends while developing skills. We also helped them navigate Jim’s complex medical needs and access essential benefits. Our network of support meant so much to their family, knowing they would receive personal, caring support.
Fred moved back to Wisconsin to care for Jim once their parents’ health declined. As a caregiver for both his parents and Jim, Fred was so thankful for support services. Fred and Jim enjoyed attending our social events and connecting with other families. They volunteered at our Challenger Event for many years, greeting our golfers while helping out on the course. Jim was often featured in our promotional materials, and they proudly displayed Jim’s bus ad and marketing brochures in their home. When Jim’s health declined, he needed a new day program to fit his advanced needs. Our staff helped Fred find a new suitable program for his brother. Years later, when Fred’s health also declined, our staff found them an assisted living placement together to finish out their years.
After Fred and Jim passed away, we learned that Fred had generously designated us as a beneficiary of his planned giving. By including Life Navigators in his estate plan, Fred established a legacy to ensure that future families with disabilities will receive the personalized support they need, just like his family did.
